Looking for a perfect soft and plush, yet free crochet baby blanket pattern? Here it is! This simple baby blanket employs a soft bobble stitch that gives the perfect cushion upon which to lay or snuggle a baby. The texture of the stitch provides beautiful interest in a classic cream, luxurious-looking, yet WASHABLE and soft wool!
I designed this blanket pattern for Martha Stewart, where you’ll find the free pattern. Or, check out all the work I’ve published there through the years here. I loved this blanket so much that I wanted to offer some kits so you can make the blanket in the same beautiful yarn from Sugarbush Yarns, Crisp. Crisp is a 100% super-wash wool, that adds to the stitch definition wonderfully.
Though I love the blanket in cream, Crisp has a wonderful range of rich colors you could hook up this blanket in. This yarn includes the best thing for a baby blanket – it’s washable!! I offer the blanket in both 30 x 30″ and 36″ x 36″ sizes.
This crochet baby blanket works well as a stroller blanket as well as a cushy play mat. The stitch is really quite simple to do and just repeats across the whole blanket. Because it is a bobble, it does use more yarn than straight crocheting, but I think the thickness and plushness of it makes it worthwhile!
This beautiful blanket is for my new niece, due to arrive in May. I’m SO EXCITED. Now, we all just need to get vaccinated so I can go visit in person! Other fun baby gifts I’ll likely stitch up for her include the Fir Cardigan, the Cruz Back Zip Hoody, and maybe a pair of Finger Knit Booties from my first book Knitting Without Needles.
Hope you enjoy the Plush Free Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern!
