Yay! I have designed Fade To Summer, a knit t-shirt free pattern and video, for you! Finally, after a very snowy spring, summer is here in Colorado. It’s about time for some summer knits! That’s why I’m so excited to share my latest collaboration with Yarnspirations.com with you.
The Fade to Summer Gradient Knit T-shirt is knit in Paton’s Grace. Grace is a beautifully soft cotton yarn that will keep you looking chic and cool on those warm summer days. The free pattern and video are available now – just in time for you to kick off your summer in style.
I love wearing cotton sweaters during the shoulder seasons and summer. It’s a great way to add some surprise to your summer wardrobe (and it’s perfect for cooler weather too!). It’s an unexpected piece that you’ll be reaching for all summer long. This easy-to-knit sweater has no shaping and the technique used is similar to the Around-the-Town woven tote bag from Weaving Within Reach, only used in a knitterly way.
This is the perfect project for your first sweater or for a beginning knitter who is ready to learn some new techniques. It’s a great way to learn knitting in the round. Plus, once you see how simple the fade technique is, you’ll be adding a fade to all of your knitting projects.
Isn’t this neckline gorgeous? I love how it mimics the horizontal feel of the gradation of color. And, I adore its neutral color shift. This subtle fade gives the sweater so much interest without too much color. Certainly, you could try other color shifts as well!
Finally, finishing this sweater is a breeze. Just seam the shoulders together and it’s ready to wear. I know I’ll be wearing mine for a casual date night. I’m picturing myself wearing it on a beautiful summer evening with my honey and drinks at the best rooftop bar. Where will you wear your Fade to Summer Gradient Knit T-shirt?
In addition to this knit T-shirt free pattern, you can find my other free patterns and videos for Yarnspirations here and here!

This is so beautiful! I have not been brave enough to attempt knitting any kind of sweater, but I think this one would be a great one to start with.

Could I use this pattern for a solid color? No gradient.
flaxandtwine says
Hi Susan,
Absolutely. Just knit the whole thing in one color and don’t worry about changing the strands . . .
Thanks Anne
