Finally! Mid-century modern dining table and chairs have entered our space! We moved into this house on Elm street two years ago, and a new table has been a significant need. I wrote a couple of posts a while back about my hunt for the perfect mid-century modern dining tables and chairs. I’m so thrilled with our final choice of the Rove Concepts Kure Marcus Table and the Anders Dining Chair.
The tables and chairs fit in with the overall feel of our house. The color of the ash wood blends beautifully with the darker notes found in our floor and the white of the table enhances the bright look I was going for.
I spent a lot of time looking to find mid-century modern dining table and chairs that were functional and comfortable but also beautiful. We found the perfect mix of practical and pretty.
I love the modern curve of the Anders Chair. Though the curve appears slight and elegant, the stretch of wood at mid-back is large enough and falls at the right place to be super comfortable.
At Rove, the chairs and the tables come separately so you can mix and match, but I love how the angle and weight of the legs of both the tables and chairs echo one another.
I love white tables – anything to make my life whiter and brighter. But in this case, the addition of the wood leaf adds an important detail, tying in the chairs to the table.
You can remove the leaf and store it in a convenient slot underneath the table. Given its size in the room, though, I can’t see why we would ever take it out. In fact, it would be ideal if the table had another leaf so we could accommodate more guests for big holidays. I guess you just can’t get everything you want.
The chair fabric is durable enough to hold up to my kids’ sloppiness (and mine). The fabric is wipeable and stain-resistant and the seat has a little bit of cushioning to add to the comfort.
My only complaint about the table is that the white powder coating has less fine finish than I expected. I wanted something a bit glossier. The surface seems a little out of step with the smooth look of the wood. At the same time, the table top is very wipeable and has held up under a good bit of abuse so far. Plus, its coating is done with no VOCs or formaldehyde.
I’m happy with how the art wall is coming along in the dining room. I played with a couple of different things before I settled on having multiple pieces. I had a large gold mirror there for a while, but adding the gold to the room brought too much confusion with the steel window. The paintings on the right are Emily Jeffords. Though I adore these, I think having two of them side by side is a probably too much. I’m on the lookout for something new to replace one of them. The cactus painting in the middle is m daughter’s. She loves being on the main wall! The modern abstract is by my friend and artist, Franklin Evans. The woman to the far left is by Leslie Weaver who creates beautiful faces full of movement and charm!
I was worried about how the table would look with the lines of the central staircase. I was afraid the mixture of materials would be too much, but I think it looks fitting in the space. Next on the list, a small sideboard for the short stretch of wall on the staircase side of the room. And, as pretty as the glass light fixtures are, I have a little bit of a hankering to do something more dramatic. What do you think?
Here is the view from the table towards the kitchen, which I also like.
I hope you like the sneak peek into our dining room. The mid-century modern dining table and chairs from Rove brings a needed modern touch to our home. It feels good taking another step towards feeling settled in Denver, too.
Now, I’m feeling organized just in time for Thanksgiving. My mother, sister, brother, and sister-in-law are all coming into town and staying with us. I’m looking forward to it, but there’s a little planning ahead of us!!

I am looking at the same table with possibly the same chairs but also considering these: https://www.roveconcepts.com/jasper-morrison_hal-chair.html
Our floor is Wood-like tile (a grayish color) https://www.arizonatile.com/en/products/porcelain-and-ceramic/sav-wood (Grigio is the color). I was just wondering how you think the table would look with the floor?
Also, have you ever bought a couch from Rove? Thank you for your time.

Hi Sally, I think that would look great as long as there aren’t any other woods in the room. I think the chairs with the table would look great. I have never bought a couch from Rove. But given the other furniture I’ve purchased with them, I would feel confident about their quality.

Hi! Your dining area looks great. I’m currently looking for a new dining table but it’s difficult knowing which one to get since we have 3 kids. I know some white veneer tops scratch easily and aren’t very durable. What are your thoughts with the Marcus dining table? Does it hold up well? Thanks!

Hi Christina,
The dining room set has been great! The top has been pretty good. We’ve had it for almost a year. There is a little scratch on the white part of the top, but you can only see it if you’re looking at it in a certain light. FOr the most part, we’ve absolutely loved it!

Hi, We are looking at purchasing the Marcus table. Wondering what color floors you have? It looks perfect. We just put in new red oak floors and wondering if it will match.
thanks!!

Hi Vanessa,
I have blond floors. I’m not sure what kind of wood it is. It is a lot lighter than the table, but it still looks good.

Would 8 chairs (3 on each side) fit? I have had my eye on this table for weeks and that is my only hesitation is I am hoping it would (even if tight).

With the chairs I got, it is doable but definitely a squeeze. doing that, one chair has to straddle the leg as well.

Hello, what color vaneer did you go with? The elm or the walnut? It’s hard to tell for sure from the photos. Thanks!
flaxandtwine says
It’s walnut.

So glad that I came across your blog. Would you say that the dining table legs are medium or dark walnut? It is a unique dining table and I’m taking a long time to decide between this and another dining table with just plain white top (Lars dining table).

THey are definitely medium – they aren’t dark at all.
