These felt animal mask patterns make last-minute Halloween costumes a breeze. The masks need only felt, elastic, a cereal box and my free PDF patterns below. Add a t-shirt and leggings and you’re done. These felt masks will be featured today on my local Fox news station, Channel 2, today in the 4:00 news hour. Squee! I’m so excited for the appearance, but honestly even more giddy about how these adorable masks turned out!!
Each one takes about an hour to make after you cut all the pieces and glue them together, but so worthwhile. Also, they will make great dress up fodder for kids any time! I love the added flower and bow embellishments. It’s a great way to add your own personal touch!
I have to admit, I think the fawn is the most adorable of all the felt animal mask patterns. Every deer or fawn requires a flower crown, right? Add brown leggings and t-shirt and some more cream felt circles to your back and you have yourself the cutest costume, adult or kiddo.
This owl is a little more time intensive as you have to cut out the felt feathers, but I think it works so well.
I had to do a fox mask for this assignment for multiple reasons, not the least of which is that its a project for FOX TV. The little blue bow was totally Allie, my daughter’s, idea and creation. Go Allie! She’s a creative super star.

I love these! I am very excited about making some animal masks for my son’s upcoming birthday. These masks would make more fun for kids to play and would also be fun for kids to take home and play with later too! Thanks for the patterns.

I thought I saw a monarch butterfly on your website but I can’t find it now. Am I mistaken?
flaxandtwine says
Hi, I’m so sorry that I don’t have a monarch butterfly design. Sounds lovely though.
Amy says
These are great! Do you have a bear??
flaxandtwine says
Thanks so much, Amy. I’m sorry, I do not have a bear. You could use a template that’s close and adjust the color and ears to be closer to a bear!Anne

HI! What type of glue did you use? Very cute!
flaxandtwine says
Hi Nicole! Thanks so much! I just used Aleene’s Tacky glue. It works pretty well with felt.

My son asked me to be Hedwig (snowy owl) for Halloween to go along with his Harry Potter costume. The owl pattern mask worked perfectly! Thanks so much for the great detailed instructions. Also, just a tip for other readers – hot glue worked wonderfully as well.

Failed miserably in trying to make fawn mask. Matching up the eye cutouts was the main problem also the craft glue showed through to topside of piece cutout. I don’t know what kind of glue wouldn’t.
flaxandtwine says
Hi Christie,
I’m so sorry the mask cutouts gave you a hard time. I use Alene’s craft glue. In terms of the glue showing through, are you using 100% wool felt? Sometimes the polyester kind is too thin and the glue comes through. If you use the wool felt, that issue should go away. Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback!
warmly, Anne

Andrea says
Do you happen to have a bunny template?
flaxandtwine says
Hi Andrea, I’m so sorry i don’t! You could adapt the fawn one. Just add whiskers and ears – it will be adorable!!
