There are so many great kits to choose from. Some of my favorites are the Udon Blanket, the Sienna Beanie, and the Classic Sweater.  I chose the Martina Cardigan, because I thought it would make the perfect little spring jacket. Plus, I’m a sucker for cream!

I am so happy with how this sweater turned out. The yarn is 100% Peruvian Highland Wool and is super soft. I love the lines of this sweater, as it flares out at the bottom and has a little bit of a stand up collar.

The simple garter stitch has such a beautiful texture too.

I was worried the sweater would be a little short, but it fell to just the right spot after blocking it. Thankfully, Allie had a snow day and was able to take photos of me in the sweater! She’s getting good with the camera!

The kits come complete with the pattern,  wool, all notions, the needles, and even a cute little tag you can sew into your homemade garment at the end. The wooden needles are beautiful to look at and to work with.  They’re super sharp too! The pattern was easy to follow, great for beginners.

The last thing I knit for myself is a Teakettle Shawl by Hey Lady Hey/Melissa Stadja. I got to meet her at her trunk show in Apex, NC a month ago. I had just cast on the pattern and was so tickled to meet the designer. I agree, knitting for self is rare. This cardi, though… One day I hope to make it!

    • Yes! Hats are great. This sweater was a quick knit and easy to do on the go!

  17. Nikki Pacheco-Theard

How pretty! Thanks for giving me this opportunity! The last thing I made for myself was 17 years ago and was taken over by my husband 15 years ago. I’ve since commissioned my mother and grandmother to knit my hats and mittens for me. This sends a clear message to my family members. I make theirs, my mom makes mine.

    • Eep! 17 years ago, Sara!! I think you need to make this sweater!!

  30. Emily

What a beautiful cardigan! I’ve been waiting to knit a WAK kit for a while now because I’ve only heard good things!
What I’ve been knitting recently is a cat for a friend and a basic scarf for my mom! Both of the projects are really simple, so I’m looking for a little bit of a challenge, and hey, I’ve never knit a sweater before!

    • Well, this is the perfect place to start!!

  38. Laura

I love your sweater 🙂 in working on a simple colorwork hat right now – my first colorwork pattern! But by the time I finish it, it’s going to be too warm to wear it lol.

I love this! I last knitted a scarf for myself.

  42. Janet Reinhart

The last thing I knit for myself – JUST finished it on Friday – was a Loops Club shawl kit called Cloudy with a Chance of Bling. It’s adorable, but I really would love to knit a simple but elegant cardigan. I love cardigans! Hope I win!
