Here is the crochet heart garland tutorial you guys have been clamoring for ever since I shared the crochet star tute. I love these sweet little mini hearts. I’ve hooked them up in a miniature size here, but you can vary that however you want. Simply follow the same pattern and increase the hook and yarn to blow these hearts up to your match your fancy.
This crochet heart garland is the perfect size to drop in the mail to someone you love, or hang over a cake or party platter or simply to wrap around a package.
I wanted to do the lavender instead of pink or red for a tweak on the traditional Valentine’s fare. I used Valdani hand dyed embroidery thread and a size 1.5 mm crochet hook.
Obviously, you could just make a pile of them and send them like confetti! Or, make two attached by a long chain and attach them to a backpack or key ring.

Just discovered your site in doing a search for “Huge Heart,” as my 4 y.o. granddaughter wants everything huge, so thought I’d crochet this huge one, hang one in a window, one in our entry and one for her to take home in her favorite color of Blue. Simply Outstanding! Thank you!

Hi Rebecca,
That is so wonderful. I love hearing this story. Makes me happy! Hearts all the way around!

How many balls of the Valdani did you use? Or, how many sweet hearts does one ball produce?
flaxandtwine says
I did 10 or 11 hearts and it definitely did not use one whole ball. Sorry I wasn’t measuring more carefully! If you find out, I’d love it if you let me know and I’ll add it to the post.

Hi, I love your chain of hearts. I just completed my first chain of nine, which I will use as a gift wrap. I used DMC perle No. 5 ( just because that was on hand) and going by weight I think I will get another chain of nine out of it. I plan to have a few of these chains up my sleeve for future use.

PS. I love your book, “Knitting without needles” and are addicted to the finger knitting.
