Oh boy! We’re coming to the end here. It’s time to start wrapping those gifts! We’re heading to Minneapolis for the holiday later today, so this is the beginning of a two week break for me! Yay! Before I go, though, I have some fun little bakers twine gift wrap ideas for you. The materials I’m working with here all come from a fabulous gift wrap kit collaboration between Gap and Darby Smart. The kit has beautiful and simple items to work with. Better than that, they have provided a huge gallery of fabulous gift wrapping ideas online here so you can try all kinds of fun ways to wrap your gifts.
I love this simple crochet chain to illustrate a simple word, “merry.” If you don’t have a crochet hook, simply braid the twine to get the same effect! Full directions below.
Use the glitter washi tape in the kit and one of the included tags as a template and create your own magical bit of joy! You could also cut out a large initial to decorate a package as well. Everyone loves a monogram.
The crochet star I posted about last week, came out beautifully as bakers twine gift wrap, don’t you think? I may have to do up a garland of those pretty things. Or, just do some more as ornaments. I’m telling you, those stars are addictive to make once you get started!
Any way you slice it, I love celebrating the season with simple materials like kraft paper and bakers twine. Taking the time to create beautiful packages at Christmas time is a part of gracious gift giving in my book. Go check out the limited edition gift wrapping set.

Bakers Twine Gift Wrap DIYs
:: Wrap package in kraft paper and write word on top with a pencil. Use a straight line as a guide line for your word. Make a crochet chain or simple braid with bakers twine provided. Match the length to your word.
:: Apply double stick tape across the word.
:: Attach braid or crochet chain to package along the line of the word.
:: Finish of chain or braid and secure the end to the package. Ready for giving!
:: Apply lengths of glitter washi tape to a piece of the kraft paper about the size of the tag included in the kit.
:: Use the “joy” tag as a template for your letters. Secure the tag on top of washi tape paper with tape. Cut the letters out with a sharp scissors.
:: Fold the O in half to cut the center out.
:: Trim the letters and attach to the package with double stick tape. Tie twine around the package too!
:: Crochet this star out of the bakers twine using a size US1 2.35mm hook, following this crochet star tutorial. Slip stitch a length of twine through star ends and tie around package corner. Or, try crocheting a bunch of them and wrap them around the package.
