A Year of Handmade - The Gallery

You've made it to the gallery for: a year of handmade.  This year I committed to making only handmade gifts.  After my son gave me a delicate garland of hand cut snowflakes for Christmas, it dawned on me that handmade gifts are literally constructed with intention and presence and meaning.  There is no other way to make something by hand.  It is this effort that imbues handmade gifts with value in ways that store-bought gifts just cannot have.   Inspired, I became determined to make all my gifts this year handmade.  You can read about the original inspiration here, or the details here along with my favorite handmade gifts from 2011.

Below are all the gifts I've made and given this year with diy instructions, tutorials, patterns, or links to the appropriate places.  Just click on a photo for more details on any gift.

If you want to join me in my handmade pledge, or if you want to share handmade gifts you've made, I would love to see them. Please share your beautiful handmade gifts in the a year of handmade flickr group.

  3. Oh my gosh, those are beautiful! I wish I could make homemade gifts, but I just don't know how to crochet or knit, and I think it would be way too hard to do it without knowing how.

    1. Thanks for your comment. Ten of the above gifts don't require any knitting or crochet. The tutorials are straight forward and easy to follow. Give one a try!
