Arm Knit Seed Stitch Blanket Pattern

Arm Knit Seed Stitch Blanket Pattern by Anne Weil of Flax & Twine

I’m thrilled to share this arm knit seed stitch blanket pattern with you. I love this seed stitch texture so much, especially in this chunky knit. I think this just might be my favorite blanket pattern yet! This pattern uses 4 strands of a super-bulky yarn so that you all can make the blanket more affordably vs. specialty jumbo yarns. But, of course, you can use a bulkier yarn and the same pattern and it will still work wonderfully. You can find the pattern in the shop, along with kits that include everything required to make the blanket. The pattern comes with detailed instructions on how to arm knit, too.

I made this blanket with my newly married cousin and his beautiful wife in mind. I have to get it to them pronto as they live in Boston and must be freezing! I’m just a smidge after the year rule, but am hoping they’ll take it whenever. Since this blanket is generously sized at 44” x 64”, I’m sure there will be plenty of room for both of them underneath!

People often ask me if they can make my patterns with needles instead of arm knitting. You can do this, for sure. Just note that you have to flip the instructions on every other row. Arm knitting always faces the same direction, whereas traditional knitting turns around every row. If you’re trying to make this pattern on traditional needles, please remember that on all the even rows, when it says Knit, you Purl and when it says Purl, you Knit. The odd number row directions will stay the same.

Yarn Alternatives

Before I go, I just want to recommend some less expensive yarn alternative, as a lot of folks also ask me for other yarn alternatives to the kits I offer.

Here are some less expensive suggestions:

1-2 Loops & Threads Indie Indie Pop

3 strands of Red Heart Grande

4 – 5 strands of Lion Brand Thick & Quick

(p.s. some of these links are affiliate links.)
